When the internet was first created, security was not even a priority. This changed. Today the internet is being used in numerous ways; like, the handling of private information. But how do you go about securing something that was not designed with security in mind?
Tcp/Ip is a stack of protocols that is used when transmitting information over the internet. By itself, Tcp/Ip is not very secure and can be easily exploited. To improve security, a four-way approach was implemented.
There are going to be more in-depth lessons focusing on each of the four approaches, but let’s take a brief look.
Encryption protects data in the event that it is intercepted. A cipher makes the data unreadable and only by using the correct key can it become readable once again. Encryption is a very common process, especially, when transmitting sensitive information.
